2500 new rooms bring movement to the Zurich hotel market

The cut-throat competition in Zurich's hotel industry is intensifying because new suppliers such as Motel One are pushing their way onto the market. A study predicts turbulent times.

Next week, the German budget chain Motel One will open its second hotel in Zurich at the old Post Selnau. It will be the largest in the city with around 400 rooms and will stir up the market. Since April, the 25hours Hotel on Europaallee has been offering 170 rooms in the mid-price segment. Nestlé now owns Majority Interest in Blue Bottle

The Swiss group Nestlé now has a majority stake in the US coffee chain Blue Bottle. This was announced by the food giant last week. The approximately 30 coffee shops in the American cities pose serious competition for Starbuck's who is the

This idea came to the owner Rilana Rentsch overnight: “I found the concept of animal welfare and gastronomy great”. Indeed, the six cats were adopted from the shelter.

It's been a very fashionable phenomenon for a little over 5 years. The "cat cafés", these cafés or tea rooms, where felines live amid customers, are appearing in more and more cities around the world. Originating in Asia, the concept gained popularity in

The Conflict between Airbnb and Traditional Hotels: Untapped Potential

Since its creation in 2008, the startup Airbnb has known a real success! But this success was accompanied by the reluctance of the hotel industry actors. Indeed, we can observe a similar scheme to the Uber and the Taxis confrontation: there is an ongoing underground war.

The 30 billion dollars’ worth company refreshed the way people look at travelling. By offering currently unoccupied private accommodations Airbnb increased the range of places to spend the holidays in enormously. The company manages to combine comfort and considerable discounts, creating a huge advantage over hotels. According to Forbes, 70% of Airbnb users choose it because of the low price and more than 50% choose the start up because of the individual furnishing and
